DAHLONEGA, GA, October 12, 2011 -- The Lumpkin County Literacy Coalition (LCLC) announced today that the organization will be a sponsor for the 2011 Dahlonega Literary Festival, November 10-13 in Dahlonega, Ga.
“Partnering with the Literary Festival is a natural since the mission of creating interest in reading is mutual between our two organizations,” said Geoffrey Kridel, an LCLC board member. “Our festival sponsorship is another way we can promote the awareness and joys of reading.”
The literary festival, hosted by the Dahlonega Arts Council, will take place in Dahlonega’s Hancock Park and other downtown venues and on the campus of North Georgia College & State University.
Attendees can shop at vendors’ booths, hear over ten writers read or discuss their works, attend sessions on publishing issues, and spend an Evening with Mark Twain at Dahlonega’s historic Holly Theatre. Among the authors appearing at the event is Terry Kay, former Atlanta Journal sportswriter and author of over 13 books.
Also, again this year, the North Georgia College & State University is hosting a Publishing Conference in conjunction with the literary festival. Visitors from throughout the Southeast are expected to attend both the conference and festival.
